Small Business and Industry

Carteret Microenterprise Loan Program (CMLP)
This FREE 6 session class is for people wishing to start a small business. It provides basic business training and technical assistance combined with access to loans for start-up costs, equipment or expansion, all in a group lending environment. Following the training and certification process the class forms into small groups of business owners or soon-to-be business owners, each interested in accessing loan money and support for their own business. In a Group Lending Environment, the group members assess and approve each other's loan requests. Loan approval is based on the confidence fellow group members have in each other's commitment, resourcefulness and ability to repay. Few of the traditional requirements to secure the loan are needed. Lack of assets or a weak credit history will not necessarily prevent your access to business credit in this program. Loan amounts range from $500 to $8,000. Call 252-222-6016 to pre-register or for more details.
