| Description: | The Medication Aide Course requires the participant to be a Certified Nursing Assistant I. Attendance and participation in the 28 hours of class/lab time is required and passage of a final written and practical exam is required to complete the course. After the course, the student will receive a Certificate of Course completion and will be assisted to apply for the NC State Exam administered by Pearson Vue. As a Medication Aide, you will learn and follow the 6 RIGHTS OF MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION and safely administer medications by the following routes: oral, buccal, sublingual, eye, ear, nasal, rectal, vaginal, topical and inhalant. IV and injectable medications are not part of this course. Participants will learn documentation utilizing the MAR to include routine and prn medications. Medication Aide courses are limited to 10 students per course to allow lab practice.
