Carteret Community College operates under an "Open Door" admissions policy, in accordance with North Carolina Administraive Code NCAC 23 2C.0301a. Except for selected programs of study, Carteret Community College accepts all persons who are at least 18 years of age, have received a high school equivalency, and completed general admission requirements, as indicated below.

Carteret Community College is a coeducational institution open to any individual who meets the admission requirements and criteria for the particular course in which they choose to enroll.

Each applicant is encouraged to seek early admission information and counseling during the admissions process. This will enable the applicant to make a wise decision in his/her choice of study as indicated by identified needs, interests, and abilities.

If an applicant fails to meet the admission requirements and criteria for the applicant's program of choice, a member of the counseling staff will help the applicant plan a preparatory program of study. The counselor, working with the applicant, may recommend a program more suitable to the individual's ability, aptitude, and educational background.
