Carteret Community College Summer Camps
Summertime is a terrific time for kids to try new things, harness their imagination and make new friends. Carteret Community College invites middle school and high school students to participate in this year’s exciting summer enrichment sessions which offer opportunities to experience a college campus, acquire new skills, and consider numerous career paths, all while having fun! This summer CCC offers several opportunities for learning, engagement and discovery.
Build a Custom Arcade Machine
Over the course of four days, participants will work with a team of others to completely build a working arcade machine from scratch. The camp will features assembling a wooden tabletop arcade cabinet (speakers, led lights, and art work). Fabricating custom video game controls (joysticks and buttons), installing and configuring Raspberry Pi hardware, installing and configuring the video game operating system and of course……..PLAY!!! This is an intensive, hands-on camp for the serious student. This is a one of a kind camp lead by an instructor who has built and repaired custom arcade machines for over 20 years. At the end of the week one lucky participant will take the machine home with them.
****No prior programming or computer hardware experience required.

Emergency Services Camp offering hands-on experiences within the public Safety field. The 911 camp will introduce participants to careers in law enforcement, firefighting, EMS and emergency telecommunications. This camp focuses on learning about our diverse criminal justice system, discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, drug and alcohol education, gang identification, violence prevention, firefighting, emergency medical care and many other issues facing today’s youth. Participants will study fingerprinting, crime scene investigations, evidence collection, basic first aid, CPR, fire safety and participate in various physical fitness exercises. They will also meet local fire fighters, EMTs and law enforcement officers through various field trips to the Police Station, 911 Communications Center, EMS Station, and Fire & Rescue Department.

Youth Entrepreneurship Camp
In an atmosphere that promotes fun and learning, participants will be introduced to entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Youths will identify opportunities for local small business ventures.
As a member of a team, participants will go through the business planning process to create and implement a business idea. Each business team will even create and film a television commercial!
All Boy Scouts who attend will receive their Boy Scout Entrepreneurship Merit Badge.
July 17-21 (Monday – Friday)
8:30am – 3:00pm
$80.00 (includes camp t-shirt and last day celebration pizza lunch)
Open to rising 7th graders through rising 9th graders.
