Students enrolling in the Fine Arts degree program will be able to participate through traditional classroom classes and courses taught (totally or partially) via the Internet. The Fine Arts program strives to educate students using both a creative and logical approach while incorporating a variety of innovative technologies.

In addition to courses that transfer to any North Carolina university, our students are trained in technologies that are needed in today's job market.

This two-year program introduces students to broader ways of thinking about art and increases their creative problem solving skills.

Students will be exposed to both traditional forms of art like drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, design, and art appreciation in addition to exploring the new digital art technology, such as multimedia, videography, and computer imaging.

The Web-Enhanced Visual Arts Curriculum

“At the millennium juncture, we are no longer anticipating a technological revolution: It has already taken place.

Digital tools have simultaneously lowered the price and raised the level of creative exploration to the point that many more people now have access to these powerful means of expression.

In the past, society saw the artist as a solitary genius. Today’s collective involvement, through the new networks and channels, can foster a synergistic genius, an amalgam of many individuals each contributing to a culture of creativity.

The realm of the circuit mandates a new approach to the creative process. Electronic digital technologies give us newfound freedom to form and shape creative acts that produce culture."

The Fine Arts curriculum at CCC is broad and flexible enough to transfer credits to four-year institutions, such as the Savannah School of Art and Design, East Carolina University and other institutions in the UNC system.

Whether you are thinking about transferring to a four year institution or just want to explore your personal creative spirit...this program is geared to both types of students.
