The Associate in Science Degree is part of the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement btween the University of North Carolina university system and the North Carolina Community College system. Under this agreement, students who complete the Associate in Science Degree may transfer to any of the 16 universities that comprise the UNC system with junior status. Also, students who complete the 44 semester hour core under the degree will be able to transfer all 44 semester hours to any U.N.C. system university if all course grades earned are C or higher.

Students seeking enrollment in the Associate in Science degree program ahould contact the College Transfer Counselor for information concerning their plans and programs. After enrollment, students will be assigned a faculty advisor who will guide them through completion of the program.

The Associate in Science degree shall be granted for a minimum of 64 semester hours of approved transfer courses.

Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities for the acheivement of competencies in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and the basic use of computers.

Begining students must meet the following requirements in order to transfer to a senior college or university based on credits earned through the Associate in Science degree program.
  1. The student must maintain scholastic eligibilty standards.
  2. The student must remove any admission deficiency.
  3. The student must submit an application to the college or university.
  4. The student should contact in writing the Registar, Carteret Community College, to request forwarding of official transcripts.
