The General Occupational Technology curriculum provides individuals with an opportunity to upgrade their skills and to earn an associate degree by taking courses suited for their occupational interests and/or needs. A program of study would be selected for each student according to his or her educational goals. For example, if a student has varied interests in the business field, a program of study including courses in accounting, economics, computers, marketing, and psychology might be developed.

All Carteret Community College courses numbered 100 or higher may count towards the degree. Through building their own degree, graduates will become more effective workers, better qualified for advancement within their field of employment, and become qualified for a wide range of entry-level employment opportunities.
