David EastwoodDavid Eastwood

David Eastwood joined Carteret Community College as its Marine Propulsion Program Coordinator and Instructor in 2001. In addition to his wide-range of experience in marine engines, he worked for five years with a Mercury dealership after beginning his career as a student in the college's Marine Propulsion Program.

David is a certified mechanic in a variety of outboard engines, including Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury, Mariner and Force engines. He also has completed comprehensive courses in Mercruiser products. As a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain and a scuba diver, David enjoys many sports and activities on the water.

"With the number of boats in Carteret County and Eastern North Carolina, it only makes sense that Carteret Community College would become a leader in training qualified technicians," Eastwood said. "We are expanding the program, and with the new Marine Training and Education Center, there will be a lot of opportunity for people who want to be trained in this high-tech field."
