Radiography Mission Statement

The mission of the Radiography program is to produce competent, responsible Allied Health professionals of the highest possible quality. Critical to this effort is an admissions process, which identifies student who not only has the potential to succeed in the program, but to also succeed in the profession. Indicators of success include not only high graduation rates, but also a job placement rate of at least 90%. The program will continue to meet and/or exceed accreditation standards. A major indicator of success is performance on the national certification exam, with a goal of a 90% pass rate (5 year minium). In addition, the mean score of each graduation class will be above the national mean. Faculty members must maintain appropriate established professional credentials through continuing education. Program competencies will be kept current with the standards of the profession and expectations of employers.

 

GOALS

1. To provide an admissions process, which ensures students, have:
a. Necessary pre-requisites.
b. Adequate academic preparation for the demands of the program.
c. Adequate transportation for traveling to all clinical sites.
d. Adequate financial resources.
e. Understanding of program operations and expectations for students.

Outcomes -

a. Program completion rate of at least 70% (5 year average)
b. Job placement rate - at least 90% within 6 months of graduation (5-year average).
c. Goal of 90% pass rate on ARRT certification exam (5 year average).
d. Class mean score on ARRT certification exam above national mean.
e. Enrolled students will complete each RAD course with a minimum grade of 80.

2. To meet or exceed applicable accreditation standards:
a. Programmatic accreditation - JRCERT.
b. Institutional accreditation - SACS.

Outcomes-
a. On going accreditation status at highest level.

3. To have faculty with appropriate credentials:

a. Certification by ARRT.
b. Continuing education as required by ARRT.
c. Established earned degree for faculty position.

Outcomes -

a. All faculty holding current certification credentials.
b. Continuing education records document compliance.

4. To keep program competencies current with the field:

a. Using JRCERT Standards and ASRT Curriculum Guide for direction.
b. Include courses in:

  • oral/written communication
  • anatomy and physiology
  • pathology, pharmacology
  • patient care
  • radiation physics
  • radiation biology and protection
  • medical ethics and legal issues
  • medical terminology
  • instrumentation
  • practical application of theory & techniques
  • quality assessment
  • computer applications
  • competency based clinical education
c. Reflecting employer expectations.

Outcomes -
a. Postive findings from annual program review process.
