How to Give to the Carteret
Community College Foundation
The Carteret Community College Foundation encourages every donor to give in a way that helps the donor achieve his or her philanthropic vision for a better community. To this end, CCC Foundation supporters may designate their gifts to a number of different funds to achieve many purposes.
The Carteret Community College Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation with the mission of providing resources to expand Carteret Community College's ability to achieve its mission to improve the quality
of life for all citizens of Carteret County and eastern North Carolina. Helping to assure scholarship aid for students is an integral part of the CCC Foundation mission. All contributions to the CCC Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by law.
Contributions to the CCC Foundation can be made by check or VISA/Mastercard or with a non-cash donation.
Scholarships
Endowed: To assure the long-term stability of scholarship aid, donors may establish an en-dowment for a minimum of $10,000. The principal is not spent; only investment earnings are used.
Annual Named: Titled after an individual or an organization, Annual Named Scholarships require a minimum investment of $500. The CCC Office of Financial Aid chooses a recipient based on the preferences specified by the donor.
Foundation General Scholarship:The income derived from investment of this fund is used for scholarships. Scholarship donations that are less than the amounts required for an
annual named or endowed scholarship are allocated to this fund.
Funds
Library Fund: Truly a community as well as a college library, the CCC Library uses private support to supplement its outstanding collection of books, audiotapes, materials for the visually
impaired, computer resources, and its law library.
Continuing Education Loan Fund: Students in short occupational courses do not qualify for financial aid. Although the cost of attending continuing education courses is generally low, sometimes
students cannot meet the cost of books and fees. This loan fund assists them in getting the training they need to get jobs.
Mini-grants and other Programs
Mini-grants: This program supports innovative projects designed and implemented by the faculty and staff to benefit students.
New Programs and Technology: Community Colleges are funded on past performance, not on expectations of future needs. To start a new program requires an investment of at least $50,000. The CCC Foundation helps defray these costs, usually through the purchase of new equipment.
Middle School Programs: Over the past three years, the CCC Foundation has co-sponsored summer programs that introduce young people to careers and the education needed to achieve those careers
Non-cash donations
Send Your Boat to College® Boat
Donation Program: Over the years, generous donors have given the foundation boats and yachts to help raise money for college and student needs. This excellent program also allows the college's Marine propulsion students to use some of the boats to learn about marine engines and systems and how to repair them. When the donated vessels are sold, the proceeds are used to support college initiatives.
Golf Tournament: The annual golf tournament, held in the fall each year, attracts nearly 100 golfers.
Generous sponsors help keep the costs low to the Foundation so it can provide maximum support for scholarships and the College Ambassadors program.
Annual Fund Drive: Each year,
community and corporate supporters of the CCC Foundation provide over $75,000 in contributions for student scholarships and other programs that directly benefit students.
Campus Fund Drive: Employees
of Carteret Community College band together to provide the extra margin of excellence to help students.
Special Events: Periodically, the CCC Foundation sponsors special fund raising events to help provide means for unique projects.
Memorial Gifts: Memorial Gifts and contributions made in honor of living persons can be made at anytime.
Planned Gifts: Appreciated assets may be given in such a way as to provide current or future tax benefits. Donors may also wish to fund a perpetual memorial through a bequest.
Non-cash gifts: In addition to boats, donors can give equipment and other items that can be used in the college's mission.
