Dr Kerry Youngblood

CCC President

 

Kerry Youngblood has been involved in adult education, job training, and workforce development for most of his adult life.  He began his career as a certified welder working for the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company.
From 1988 to 1993, Dr. Youngblood was the principal of a technical high school in the Mesa Valley school district.
He was the Director of the School of Applied Technology at Mesa State College from 1993 to 1996, and the Dean of the School of Industry and Technology from 1996 to 2004.
In 2005, he was selected as the Vice President for Community College Affairs and as the President of Western Colorado Community College.
Musician, songwriter, and proponent of technical and vocational education, Dr. Youngblood joined Carteret Community College as its president in March 2009.  He has a daughter Jessie, a graduate student at Colorado State University. In May 2006 he married his best friend Kris Hahn, they now reside in Atlantic Beach with their three cats and “Steve” a beautiful three legged dog.

Kary Porter

CCC Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services

 

A financial and accounting specialist with 25 years of experience. Ms. Kary Porter worked as Craven’s Vice President for Administrative Services from 2009 to 2011, where she oversaw all administrative and financial services. She also has been the Associate Provost at Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta, Ga., near Atlanta for nine months during 2009, and served as acting president of Chattahoochee from 2007 to 2008. She worked as chief financial officer for Chattahoochee Technical College for 12 years until 2008, and managed an annual operating budget of more than $25 million, plus provided administrative oversight for a $20 million construction project consisting of four new buildings, equipment, and furnishings. Ms. Porter joined Chattahoochee in 1988 as an accountant working on payroll, accounts payable, before rising to accounting supervisor. At Carteret, Ms. Porter will be responsible for the college’s $18 million annual budget, and supervising more than 16 men and women, who keep track of the college’s administrative and financial affairs

 

 

Tracy Mancini

CCC Vice President of Instruction and Student Services

 

Tracy Mancini comes to CCC from Durham Technical Community College where she worked for 15 years. She held the position of Dean and Department Head of Arts, Sciences, and University Transfer Department. She served on the boards of Genesis Home and Families Moving Forward, agencies that serve homeless families in Durham, and was a member of the Downtown Durham Rotary. “I am happy to join the team of committed faculty, staff, and administrators at Carteret Community College who work to help students meet educational and career goals and to support the college’s partners in the community,” said Mancini. Mancini earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary. She also has a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of North Florida and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Duke University Divinity School. Mancini is currently working on her Doctor of Education in Community College Executive Leadership at Wingate University in Charlotte. She is set to complete the doctoral program in August of 2017. Mancini and her partner Norris have a Shannon sailboat in Oriental, and have recently purchased a home in Beaufort. She says she looks forward to spending time on the coast. Her son, Noah, will be a sophomore at Davidson College this year.

Perry Harker

CCC Vice President of Corporate and Community Education

 

Mr. Perry Harker has seventeen years of community college experience in the following positions 1991 - present:

Director of Prison Programs (Curriculum and Continuing Education) - 1991
Occupational Extension/Small Business Center Director - 1992
Senior Associate Director of Continuing Education Division – 1992 -1993
Senior Director of Continuing Education Division - 1999 (Titled changed to Vice-President of Corporate and Community Education Division - 2000)
Prior related work experience:–
Director Job Training Program (Community Based Agency) - Six years (1987 – 1991)
Banking – 2 years (1986 -1984)
Adjunct Instructor - Carteret Community College (1985 – 1992) Taught Basic Skills classes and business related classes
