What is Academic Support?

Academic Support is an area that provides many services FREE of charge.   

• Tutoring
• Placement Testing
• Makeup Testing
• Test Proctoring (Fees are required for non CCC students)
• Computer Use
• Quiet place for studying

Academic Support Location and Staff

Academic Support is located in the McGee building, room 102 on the first floor. Within the suite area are rooms for tutoring and studying, rooms for testing, and a Writing Center with several computers. Tutors are available in a variety of subjects, and daily schedules of these qualified tutors are available in the center and online. Click on the tutoring tab on the left to find the schedules.  Tutoring helps build the confidence and skills needed to be successful in college.  Best of all, tutoring for students enrolled in curriculum classes are FREE!!! 

Academic Support is staffed by several different tutors and other staff.  To see the full list of tutors, click on the Staff tab to the left.  Denise Askew and Donna Carr work the front desk, and Elizabeth Matthews coordinates the Academic Support area. 

Student Tutors

Work study jobs in tutoring are available for qualified students. Anyone who is interested in the program can obtain information from Brenda Long or Lori Wrenn in the Student Services Center in the McGee building.

These jobs are a way of earning extra money, while sharing knowledge in a special subject with other students.
